The need for financial aid has increased dramatically as students feel the economic effects of the pandemic. A concerned Spider family has stepped forward with an extraordinary offer; they will match gifts to financial aid up to $100,000.
Members of the Board of Directors of the University of Richmond Alumni Association will match gifts to the UR Annual Fund, $1 for $1, up to $25,000! The Board encourages all Spider alumni to support UR during this time of great challenge for higher education. Go Spiders!
GOLD (Grads of Last Decade) Challenge
This one’s for the classes of 2010-2020! If 500 GOLD alumni make a gift during URHere, a $25,000 gift to Financial Aid will be unlocked. Offered by a Spider who is young at heart!
Class of 2010 Match
A member of the class of 2010 challenges all of her classmates to take part in URHere, and has offered to match their gifts, $1 for $1, up to $10,000!
Spider Parent Challenge
Laurel Driscoll, W’90, proud parent of a 2023 Spider, has offered to match gifts from fellow parents during URHere up to $2,500. Thanks, Mom!
Maura and Steve Mongelli, ’98, want to encourage all Spiders to support first gen students at Richmond. They will match your gift to first generation programs in the Office of Common Ground, $2 for $1, up to $5,000!

Itsy Bitsy Spider Challenge

In honor of the Law School’s 150th, Janice Moore, ’81, has committed $150,000 in challenge funds. Every 10 Law URHere donors will unlock $10,000 in challenge funds! Gifts of any amount to any law fund can unlock funds.
Professor Jim Gibson, Sesquicentennial Professor of Law, will match all Law gifts made by law faculty and staff dollar for dollar up to $5,000. When we unlock Jim’s total match, Professor Corinna Lain, S.D. Roberts & Sandra Moore Professor of Law, will also give $5,000!
Gifts to the Robins School of Business during URHere will be matched up to a $15,000! Offered by Spiders with a “business-like” approach.
A Jepson ’05 alumna and member of the School’s Executive Board of Advisors hopes all Jepson Spiders will give as they are able, and will match gifts to Jepson up to $10,000. Additionally, a Jepson ’96 alumna will match gifts to Jepson up to $2,000, for a total of $12,000. Leadership moves the world!

Lobo Math & Computer Science Challenge
Andrew Lobo, ’06, has offered to match gifts to the Math and Computer Science Department during URHere, $1 for $1, up to $500. That’s a calculation we can all make!
The SPCS Dean’s Ambassadors Circle (DAC) has pledged $11,000 for the DAC Challenge Gift. Once 100 participants donate, the DAC Challenge Gift will be unlocked! Help us unlock this generous gift by being one of the first 100 participants to give to the SPCS Annual Fund as part of URHere.
A Red ‘n Blue through and through Spider has offered to match gifts to the Spider Club up to $50,000. With your help we can score big!
Class of ’99 Spiders, Michael and April Babb, have offered to make a gift of $40,000 if Richmond Athletics reaches 600 donors during URHere. Help us unlock this game-winning gift!

Women’s Basketball Match
Spider fans from the class of 1959 have agreed to match all gifts to the women’s basketball program up to $1,000 during URHere. Nothing but net!
Dedicated Spider fans and season ticket holders, Jennifer and Don Evans, will match all gifts to the Men’s Basketball team up to $5,000 during URHere.
Field Hockey Challenge
Teamwork makes the dream work. If the Field Hockey team raises $5,000 during URHere, a current Spider family will give the team a bonus $2,500. If they raise $10,000 or more, the family will give $5,000.
A former Richmond linebacker will give $2,500 if 100 football alumni make a gift to the Spider football program during URHere. Go team!
Men’s Golf Challenge
1992 Spider men’s golf alum has agreed to match all gifts to the men’s golf team up to $3,000 during URHere.
Women’s Lacrosse Challenge
A loyal Richmond Women’s Lacrosse Family will give a bonus $10,000 to the WLAX team if they can raise $10,000 during URHere.
Swim & Dive Challenge
Robert ’94 and Kathleen ’97 Allen will give a bonus $2,500 to Swimming & Diving if the program can raise $2,500 during URHere.
Men’s Tennis “Match”
Parents of a current men’s tennis student-athlete have offered to match gifts to Spider Men’s Tennis during URHere, $1 for $1, up to $5,000! Game, set, and match!
Women’s Soccer Challenge
A dedicated Richmond Women’s Soccer Family will give a bonus $5,000 to the Women’s Soccer team if they can raise $5,000 during URHere.
$5K Bonus – Team Raising the Most $$$
Richmond alum and former student athlete Rob Goergen, Jr. ’93 has challenged all 17 teams to make URHere a huge success. Rob will donate $5,000 to the team that raises the most money during URHere!
Rob will also give $5,000 to the team that secures the most donors during URHere! Teams, start making your game plan!
Ready, Set, Go! Match – May 27
Get ahead of the pack and make the most of your gift! A dedicated Spider alum will match gifts made between noon and 3 p.m. EDT, up to $5,000!
Make Mine a “Double” Match – May 27
Gifts made between 7-10 p.m. EDT will be twice as nice! A Spider family has offered to match them up to $5,000!
Rise ‘n’ Shine Challenge – May 28
The early bird Spider gets the worm! Tracey Ivey, B’82, and husband Bob, B’82, have offered to match all gifts made between 6-9 a.m. EDT up to $10,000!
Power Hour Challenge – May 28
Feeling that afternoon slump? Time to power through! If 100 donors make a gift between 3-4 p.m. EDT, a Spider trustee will donate $10,000 to Financial Aid.
Strong Finish Challenge – May 28
We’re in the final countdown! A member of the Board of Trustees has offered to match all gifts made between 9 p.m. and midnight EDT up to $5,000!
The SPCS Alumni Association Board of Directors will match the first $1,250 raised during “Happy Hour” on Giving Day. Every gift given from 5-6 p.m. EDT on May 28 will be doubled up to $1,250. Lift a glass to SPCS, our students and alumni and double the amount of your donation during Happy Hour.
